دکتر ویدا کاهانی فوق‌تخصص طب نوزادی و پیرامون تولد و دانش‌آموخته دانشگاه علوم پزشکی تهران است. ایشان در آزمون بورد فوق‌تخصصی نوزادان با نمره ۹۱ رتبه چهارم کشور را کسب کرده‌اند.
Dr Vida Kahani is a neonatal–perinatal medicine specialist trained at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She scored 91 in the national neonatology subspecialty board exam and placed fourth in the country.
ایشان در بیمارستان دکتر شریعتی در مراقبت از نوزادان بستری، به‌ویژه نوزادان نارس و بدحال، فعالیت دارند. پیش‌تر نیز در دانشگاه علوم پزشکی خوی به دانشجویان پزشکی و مامایی تدریس کرده و در برگزاری کارگاه‌های مراقبت از نوزادان مشارکت داشته‌اند.
She works at Dr Shariati Hospital caring for hospitalised newborns, especially preterm and critically ill babies. Before that she taught medical and midwifery students at Khoy University of Medical Sciences and helped run workshops on newborn care.
علاقه‌مندی‌های علمی ایشان تغذیه نوزادان بسیار نارس، مراقبت‌های ویژه نوزادان، آموزش پزشکی و بهبود کیفیت مراقبت نوزادی است.
Her clinical and research interests are feeding in very preterm infants, neonatal intensive care, medical education and improving the quality of newborn care.
ایشان بر شیر مادر تأکید ویژه دارند. به باور ایشان، چند دقیقه گفت‌وگو و آموزش درست به مادر اغلب تغذیه و وزن‌گیری نوزاد را به‌طور چشمگیری بهتر می‌کند و شیر خشک نباید اولین راه‌حل باشد.
She is a strong advocate of breastfeeding. In her experience, a few extra minutes of talking with a mother and showing her the right technique often transforms a baby's feeding and weight gain, and formula should not be the first answer.
